Ocean Energy
Jon has monitored ocean energy over the years and recently supported some work for an Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion (OTEC) due diligence for a DOE Loan Guarantee. He reacquainted himself with the status of the technology and the need for scaleup of currently unproven equipment and systems. The small temperature difference in the ocean requires the development of extremely efficient heat exchangers and power conversion systems, as well as intake and exhaust piping, sea worthy structures and an underse cable for ellectricity transmission. Here are a few reports for
OTEC, Wave Energy and Tidal Energy and an
overview of ocean or marine energy concepts.
